Presentations!!

In this lesson we will learn to:

  • Identify two application software that are used to create presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides)

  • Create a simple presentation.

  • Save a presentation

  • Use formatting and editing tools on slides.

  • Select and apply appropriate designs

Microsoft PowerPoint is an application that allows you to create, print and show presentations that incorporate a variety of multimedia elements, such as:
  • Videos
  • Sound
  • Animation
  • Photos
  • Graphics
 

 

Presentations are often used to pass on information quickly to a group of people in classrooms or lecture theatres, or even just at your desk.  When you give a presentation, your main aim is to get key points across to your audience in a way that allows them to understand the points quickly.

Activity 1:

You are going to apply for a job as a content developer.  To apply for this job, you must create and submit  a multimedia presentation about yourself.  Using Microsoft PowerPoint follow the guidelines below, and your teacher's instructions, to create a four (4) slide presentation about yourself.

TASK (TOTAL 12 marks)

​1. Do you have a flash drive? Create a folder on the flash drive and  call it PowerPoint Activity One.

   OR IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A FLASH DRIVE

 

   Create a folder on the desktop.

 

2. Open Microsoft PowerPoint. Choose Blank Presentation. (2 marks)

 

3. Save this presentation as your Full NameMyself in the PowerPoint folder you created on your flash drive or desktop.  Whenever you make a change to your presentation, please remember to save your work. (2 marks)

 

4. Go to Home, Layout.  Can you say what are the various types of Layouts in PowerPoint?

 

5. Choosing the best layouts create a 4-slide presentation about yourself:

  • 1st Slide insert your name, address & a picture of yourself (ask your teacher for the link to find your picture). (2 marks)

Re-save your presentation

 

  • 2nd Slide My Wish List (please list 4 wishes or life goals that you have) (2 marks)

 

  • 3rd Slide My Hobbies (please list what you enjoy doing 4 hobbies) (2 marks)

 

  • 4th  Slide My Dislikes (list 3 things that you do not like) (2 marks)
