All the input, output and storage devices connected to, and dependent on, a computer for operation are called peripherals.

Output Devices

Output devices
are pieces of equipment, such as printers, monitors or screens, projectors, speakers and headphones, which we use to get information or other responses from computers.
If we can read the output, such as on a computer screen or printed on paper, we say that the output is human readable. If we cannot read the output, such as barcodes or output on storage devices, we say that the output is machine readable.

Types of output devices
We classify output into softcopy output and hardcopy output:
•  Softcopy or temporary output is information that is displayed on a screen, or in audio or voice form through speakers. Softcopy output disappears when you switch off the computer.
•  Hardcopy or permanent output is information that is printed on paper.
